As of January 3rd this year, some new regulations have been put forward by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) called the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive or MIFID.

One of the key elements of these guidelines was that Financial Advisors should consider recording (audio only) all client conversations, both on the telephone and in face-to-face meetings. This measure is designed to offer security and transparency in the event that any interaction needs to be referred back to for any reason.

Because of the types of service we offer at Expert Wealth Management; as a matter of best practice we have decided to follow these guidelines and initiate the recording of all client conversations.

In short, by removing the need to take notes or to try and remember certain elements of what is said, we’ll be able to better serve you. And of course offer you complete security in the unlikely event of a dispute. Please be assured that we’ll store all recordings in a highly secure digital location, and they will not be shared with anyone outside of our organisation. We’ll also comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which came into effect on 25th May, and will destroy recordings when no longer relevant.

The change will take effect immediately and we’ll be updating our client agreement to reflect the new policy. In the meantime, should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
