The client journey

Every journey starts somewhere. We follow a five-step process that’s designed to help us fully understand our clients’ goals and motivations, so we can go on to develop a robust financial plan. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us.

  • Stage 1
  • Stage 2
  • Stage 3
  • Stage 4
  • Stage 5

Exploration

The purpose of the exploration stage is to get to know each other and decide whether we wish to work together. We'll talk about you, your lifestyle, your objectives and what's important to you.

At the end of this stage we should have a good idea of where you are now and where you want to get to.

Discovery

During our discovery meeting, we’ll explore your aspirations more deeply, and help you identify and prioritise your financial objectives.

We will then carry out an in-depth analysis of your current financial situation and shape the draft financial plan.

Planning

This is a collaborative phase where we’ll present your draft plan, so that you have a clear picture of where you are now financially in relation to where you want to be. We’ll talk you through the draft plan we’ve developed, explaining our recommendations and answering any questions you might have.

Planning may involve more than one meeting so that you can consider the different options and decide on the best way forward.

Implementation

This is where we put your plan into action. If paperwork is required, we’ll complete as much of it as we can in advance to save you time. Often, all you need do is sign the forms, although if your medical history is involved, we will leave those questions to you. We also do all the administration, track the progress of applications regularly and keep you informed throughout.

We will confirm our advice and recommendations in writing and we'll give you a video summary of the financial plan that you can review at your leisure.

Ongoing service

It’s important that we monitor your progress on an ongoing basis. We’ll schedule regular progress meetings, where we’ll update your plan to reflect any changes in your objectives and circumstances, legislation, taxation and economic conditions, so that you stay on course.

The frequency of these meetings will depend on your personal needs and the level of complexity of your situation. Most financial plans should be reviewed at least annually.

Our fee philosophy

It’s important to us that our fees reflect both our values and our ethos. That means charging in a way that shows we respect our clients and the trust they place in us. With that in mind, our approach to fees revolves around three key things.

The first is that our pricing will always be fair – for our clients and for us too. We will confirm the cost of strategic planning at the end of the Exploration meeting, when both parties have decided we want to work together and we believe we can truly add value to your situation.

The second is transparency. You’ll never encounter any hidden costs or nasty surprises; we don’t work like that. Instead, you’ll always know how and what you’re being charged.

Lastly, it’s imperative that we always provide our clients with value for money. Throughout the course of a long-term working relationship, we aim to provide as much value as possible in terms of helping you meet your objectives.
